Might go to one of the Classic Shows outdoor events later in the year but at the moment I'm still shielding. Can't see Stafford going ahead and even if the October show is on its a no go for me. Would be first one I've missed for years but shuffling shoulder to shoulder even outside is too risky until a vaccine is available I'm afraid.

I wouldn't go to an autojumble at the current time. Leaving aside the difficulty of maintaining 2M distance, can't see any regular deep cleaning of the bogs etc. occurring at such an event.

Beaulieu are still taking stall bookings but haven't decided yet whether to cancel their September Autojumble. They're probably waiting to see whether the 14 day quarantine for foreign visitors remains in place before deciding - a big percentage visitors and a fair few stallholders are Dutch, German, French peeps.

Even in normally gung ho USA, pretty well all the shows (e.g. Hershey -10,000+ stalls, runs in early October) have been cancelled.

It's not throwing it away. It's because they still believe in Herd immunity . Everything points to a deliberate attempt to create a form of anarchy where a % of the populous are that angry they feel it's ok to break the rules as the person that made them broke them himself.

The worst problem is a total lack of transparency and trust. Ignoring the obvious comments about partisan views it has to be obvious to all the hidden disagreement between the science and the decision makers are emerging more and more when they are not being shut down.

Let's be honest the counting of cases with counting two swabs of the same person at the same time as 2 tests is beyond ridiculous
Ignoring care homes in the daily figures is abysmal.
That said whilst we need and deserve the truth It could have been used to ensure a better voluntary lockdown but the lack of credible actions such as only now requiring face coverings not even masks and only now requiring isolating on entry to the country is beyond bizarre.

For the record the idiots crowed on the beach were totally wrong but comparing a large number of isolated pods with a random wander around picking up and putting down item after item can not even be compared in the same sentence.
I do think you highlight some of what it is also about and that is money.

The reality if you do everything you can to protect yourself then there is no need to stress and there is no requirement for you attend these events

I don't think going to a car boot is much different to going to a big super market, I would say the only increased risk is people handling things but if you don't put your hands in you mouth/eye/nose and you sanitise them then no issues.

We all have an individual choice to make, I am out and about every day with my job and most people are keeping a safe distance.

That depends on where and when it was. When the rules were relaxed you were allowed to take a day trip irrespective of distance, my wife and eldest went to see the sea and didn't break any rules whatsoever. Whether an individual thinks that was the right choice is a different matter.
