Hey,
I have started a new (ambitious) project for myself. I have around 24meters of spare 2mm 20mm box section and I'm designing a couple of 2 person benches for the garden.
I had the idea to do a lot of "pie cuts" and use the gradual transition to sculpt vine like/tree like supports as the legs (see dodgy sketches).
My question being is autogenous welding appropriate for this? The metal will be left bare to rust and then protected once a nice patina has been acquired. I was going to use autogenous welds for reduced consumable costs, time and maneuverability/ease of "quick" fabrication.
I dont have much experience with TIG and only recently realised you can weld without the filler, this could make this project doable if it will hold up for a few years.
I'm gradually moving towards working on the car's exhaust and figured a project involving some angles and tight spots for welding would do me some good.
The actually area you will sit on will be finished wood in a sturdy metal frame with black paint. No contact with the rusting metal unless you lean on it.
