auto darkening helmets?

hi, im thinking of upgrading to an auto darkening helmet, can you see clearly through them when you arent welding? also which 1 should i buy (i have about 50 quid) thanks

They are a bit like sun glasses shade in the clear state & darken instantly as soon as you strike an arc, faster than the eye can sense light... make the job sooo much easier.

They definitely make the job easier, no more 'negative-panda' eyes while squinting and tacking ! Stretch your budget to £58 and weldequip's yer man with a mighty fine Parweld one. (but I expect you already know that now ) Very highly recommended, see this other thread

Think of it in terms of pints on a night out, 3 pints less consumed = your extra £8!

They are especially good for ARC welding, even more so if your a beginner getting used to striking the arc.

For less than 60 its a very worthwhile purchase no matter how often you weld.

Could have sworn I saw a post from DIY Welding in this thread regarding items on sale cheaper than anyone else.

Was going to mention it myself awhile back after viewing his website: but I thought I'd leave him to promote his own gear......or have I left the gas bottle leaking again!!
