I have never welded before and have decided to take on my first project. I am customizing my 1973 Datsun 240z.
Currently, the fenders have been cut to allow for larger tires.
I have purchased firberglass fenders that are much larger and will cover up the old cut fenders. Therefore the welding does not need to be pretty. You can see a blog of my car at: http://web.mac.com/modernmagic/iWeb/240z
I have been told that the inner and outer fenders need to be connected as this car is a "unibody" construction.
I have attached a photo of the cut fenders.
What would be the best method to weld the inner and outer fenders?
edge weld? straps? plug weld?
Once again I am a newbie so this might be a dumb question.
