I don't know if there other many members from Australia in this forum but why do you make it so hard to get a job welding in your country. The majority of jobs are advertised through recruitment angecies that don't know what your talking about and you do know what they are talking about. Why can't you simply advertise jobs directly and cut out the recruitment agencies who seem to be more incline to get you to recognise your qualification and experience through the TRA rather than helping you to get a job. I've been a welder fabricator for over 15 years and if i was to now apply for a permanent visa for Australia with my work experience and qualifications would probably look toward apply for a skill independent visa as a boiler maker fabricator welder. But after travelling to Australia in late 2008 and staying 10 months and being unable to get a job doing something in which i have 15 years experience i don't think it's an option i'll be taking up any time soon. With my occupation on the skills in demand list i though i'd at least get one job offer but after applying for more than 300 jobs either by e-mail or phoning to respond to job in the news paper or on the internet i left Australia with nothing and now find myself living in my parents house. Sorry for the spelling mistakes.

Emails, thats one mistake if your able to get a visa than australia has a mining boom and due to that a lot of qualified people go to the mines to work, leaving some local companies stranded for competent staff. where were you in australia? some recriutment agencies are fantastic others are not I remember not so long ago applying for a job with one company only to be not even rejected but resume was 'archived' now days I would hang up on them, as smaller companies with smaller budgets are putting the effort in to training people and getting them poached by bigger companies who require qualified staff to work in the mines, some larger companies are good too. can not say enough nice stuff about United group infrastructure, Quality company great lads and of course ladies, usually applying in person over here is a lot quicker.

Ah circumnavigation! what sort of work were you looking for? experience in heavy fab or general or sheet, theres alot of work at the moment and getting better especially Perth, Adelaide nice, in australia we have Employment agencies and recruitment agencies, employment agencies work for government and get paid more to put an unemployed person in work than a competent individual Australian citizen or not, they still have to take your application but the ******s may not always pass it on, recruitment agencies work for employers. however there are many companies elsewhere, if you couldn't find work with experience and a visa in Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone I would be surprised, might have been right in the middle of the GFC mining companies are only getting back on track now.
