My lads working away at the moment, going to be checking warranty situation tomorrow.

There was a recall but I think that was for the supplementary electric circulation pumps. Kept catching fire!

I phoned the garage up this morning, it's not the waterpump, it's a plastic housing with loads of pipes on it he said the thermostat is on it.
So stat. Housing and labour.
I asked if it's difficult, he said it's a bit of a bas***d, loads in the way, said come and have a look if I want.
So it is what it is.
My lad can programme the software for a whole conveyer, palletising system but dunt know a water pump from a watermelon.

So ended up £480.
Said that it was a gasket but you have to buy the water pump that has other stuff hanging off it?
Can't just buy the gasket..
On the bill it just said waterpump and housing.
No breakdown of labour.
Said that it would be cheaper no vat, pound notes.

Water pump and thermostats are all in the same housing.

Always the way mate

find either a mobile mechanic or good local garage and keep using them for MOT’s and repairs you either can’t do or don’t have the time to do and they will look after you

I think i would have grunted a bit if they came in at £80 over the quote.

They did say they were using genuine parts though.
The internet quotes may have been for the cheapest parts available and they may actually make more profit on the same job.

But as pointed out earlier the genuine parts have only lasted 3 yrs
