Attack of the killer combi-square

I was desperate at the time and needed a combi-square fairly quickly...

I bought this from a well known orange coloured shop. It was the only one on display with no alternatives to choose from.

A bit of a shock when I took it out of the packet. It hadn't been debured in any way and all edges are like razorblades. I am not a fan of thier QC department to say the least. The machining finish is awful too.

They do have a warning on the back of the packet. Is that warning enough to excuse them for poor QC and can legally protect them if someone should slice their fingers?

I have the same one, after about a years use it becomes fairly safe and smooth..!

haha, I bought one from Toolstation to replace the dodgy one. I found it far superior in quality to the Q and B one

Moore and Wright is the way. Amazes me how robust the M&W ones are. Always in use, lying around on the bench, big stuff getting handled, dropped on the floor, stuff put on top of them, never break.

Shameful 'tool' isn't it. B&Q is a hateful place. Overpriced cheap tat.

I bought one from a flea market stall for £1.99 with an extra bit that fastens on the ruler for doing 45° and it's been dead handy and it came in a blunt cardboard box

Still got the M&W one I was given over 55 years ago! Unfortunately I have lost the little scriber that pushed into the 90 degree slider.

One of my cheapo combo squares now reads 90deg one way and about 35deg the other side which should be 45deg after i left it on the tube bender as the hydraulic ram was draining back, whoops!

I got some hacksaw blades a couple of weeks ago, desperation as you say, and was amused that pets are not allowed to use them. Presumably in case the cats with opposable thumbs learn to shop.

I bought one from B&Q, used it once and the next day noticed the spirit level was leaking.

I took it back and they didn't seem surprised.

Same tat you can get anywhere, but at least twice the price. I don't like using B&Q unless I'm really stuck. Some of their stuff like abrasives is just outrageously priced.

Stanley aren't bad, I use one continually throughout the day, and while the rule will not stay set sometimes, I think I've bought 2 in the last 30yrs, the first lost down a cavity.

Not bad for around 20quid.
