It was a yellow 1970 Ford Escort 1300, bought by my father from a wide boy in about 1982. Dad asked me to check why it did not run very well - it was mistimed, the distributor was rusted solid into the block and could not be adjusted. Looking under the carpets I discovered that the floor behind the driver's seat was a Duckhams oil can, flattened and then pop-riveted over a large hole in the floor. At least the yellow paint matched the car.Blimey, that must have been an old motor
I,dont think you quite understand the funny comments, there is no this gauge or that gauge, its either repair or restorationThanks for the replys fellas some funny comments in here lol. I do have some steel from old bonnets dash doors so will check out the gauge on them seems 1.2 for inner sill and 1mm for outer seems about right. Think IL pass on the concrete ideas tho lol.
