Hi im new at this! I am doing research on chair processes and would love some help about a particular chair. Can someone please give me any information about how this chair is assembled? What processes is used and what particular things are called? Thanks!
Can't see how the tubes are fixed to the plate, probably a tapped boss welded to the tube which is screwed through from the centre plate, but the tubes are bent, probably in a rotary draw bender, maybe a mandrel bender depending on wall thickness, the centre plate is pressed, then holes no doubt punched through, if not pressed and punched in one operation, then its all bolted together.
Not for school/college? Come on....
The palte is clearly two seperates, each half welded to a pair of legs. One has a joggle in, which allows it to overlap the other.
This method would take up much less space in the factory/warehouse....
Plates would probably be punched out in one, semicircle with fixing holes at the same time. The bend on one, possibly a secondary opertain.
Welds are clearly visible each side of the legs, towards the outside of the plates....
The outboard 'blocks' no idea how they are fixed, looks like they may well be just a sliding fit over the tube...?
Technical terms, 'mouting plates' would be what i'd call them.
