I bought a s/h 35Kva 3-phase generator maybe 30 years ago. It only gets used about a couple of hours every fortnight, but other than new oil and filters I've not had to do anything to it. Its powered by a 4 cylinder air cooled Lister diesel, I think 5 or 6 litre, so it is very noisy, but surprisingly economical to run.

There's a couple of setups that might match your Lister 35va. Chances are the serial number of the motor will give you info.
Although over the years There's been variations, after maybe the late 70's Lister-Petter settled on a nomenclature where if you added 50 to the first 2 digits it gave you the year of mfr. In the middle of the string there'd be 2 letters, the first the Type (e g H Series; T Series), the 2nd the model. The number immediately following was the number of cylinders, while often the last 4 (a letter & 3 numbers) designated the build type (from memory A008 depicted a Generator Build).

Best guess (if you're lucky) you got the not-that-common HR4 unit (maybe a HA) - last ones made around 1983.
A solid tank of an engine that theoretically could last forever, and it's modular, so the 2, 3, 4 & 6-cyl variants all used the same barrel, head, valvegear, rods, Bryce injector pumps etc.

Parts availability (inc o/size piston kits etc) was very, very good (at least up to a couple of years ago anyway).

Very economical as they have a massive flywheel storing energy, so great for motor-starting & frugal on part-loads.
