Thanks for all the info - Mind at ease.

Roofing is in good condition and would have no problems just leaving it. Just to be safe as the unit has been empty for a while i will clean the whole area with the mask and disposable overalls.

What mask would be suitable for cleaning around this type of roofing or any asbestos for that matter.

A proper mask for asbestos will be one that you have been 'face fitted' for. You put on the mask and go through a series of excersises to see if it leaks.
All you need for your purposes is a white 'nuisance-dust' mask you get at he local builders or hire shop.

disposable dust masks are graded p1,p2 and p3, go for p3's as a minimum.
