If they were mine in my home I would just scrape them up, bag them and bin them in the council tip asbestos receptacle.

That's pretty much what the HSE guidance note says, with a few precautions to avoid spreading it.

Our flat had black asbestos containing tiles throughout which we were able to dispose of with our local authority free of charge. They were lifted carefully to avoid breakages, double bagged in sturdy plastic, and disposed of in two batches as the work went along. The first batch was by a pre-booked collection, and the second delivered by appointment to a local waste recycling centre with facitlities to handle this kind of waste. The screed underneath was painted with an SBR sealant as a binder immediately after lifting the tiles, and we used a floating floor buildup over the top to avoid any interference with the screed and any residual adhesive that remained.

And the results are in.......
both the tiles and vermiculite loft insulation are,,,,,,,Negative and it cost me £160 +vat. That's a relief for me anyway. I can crack on once I've gotten rid of this 'man flu' Thanks all again.
