Sounds very reasonable to me. I had a barn roof to strip, bill for the speacial skip with polythene lining etc, was £2250. I stripped it my self. Bizzare as it still just ends up in a landfill site.Test came back with cert, cement based asbestos
£200+VAT to get rid
No chance I'm getting donned in PPE, going up scaffold, getting the crap out, double bagging then queueing at skip for that

Plenty does get burried though, or as one guy I know suggested. Just store it in a hollow till you work out what to do with it. By the time you save up for disposal it will have grown into the ground. It's the removal and transport that have the most potential 'danger'. The only reason that it isn't acceptable (although it happens) to bury cement board that contains asbestos on site is that no one knows its there.
that was jolly decent of him err I mean stupid to tell you I know of a few places that have it 2 foot under the drives with rubble on top then road plainingsOne place I was looking to buy, the seller showed me round the yard and barns, and when I started sizing an empty bit of adjacent land as a possible workshop he said no, not there, that’s where all the asbestos is buried
strangely we didn’t buy it.

in working at places and see what goes on for the last 51 years there's not a lot I haven't seenyou’ll make an excellent prosecution witness some day

just returning it to the earth. that's where it came from originalyI'm SURE it was all buried BEFORE the rules changed honest guv
over the road from me the land was contaminated they had to sell the houses for 2 grand each more to pay for the top layer of contaminated ground to be removed . there's 800 houses going on the old mod site and that will be the sameThe town where I grew up had a huge loco works. At one point it employed pretty much the whole town so everybody new somebody who worked there directly. It closed in the 80s and has been industrial use since then. It's now being demo'd and the biggest housing estate in the area is being built.
Developers say they're going to "clean" the land. Speak to anyone who worked there and you soon realise it's an impossible task. You certainly wouldn't want to be growing vegies or letting your kids dig holes in those gardens
I know a few builders that shot the asbestos soffit boards in the bottom of the skip then chucked the rubble on top 2 late once its gone and they empty it and notice
