Bloody hell, I've fixed it.

Very, very carefully, slipped copper sheet, round the edge of the screen, stuck it on the Rayburn and warmed the screen, continued carefully, working all the way round the screen, until it started to pop out, unscrewed thing which holds screen plug on, removed, reattached, and hell, the damn thing lives again !

Need to glue the screen back in, but might change the battery, having got this far.

Post #33, on this thread, I got it on the 11 October 2020, so nearly two and a half years later, except today's hiccup, it's doing fine.

It did fall off the table the other day, onto a concrete floor, it seemed ok for a day or two, but obviously not, no screen trauma or anything.

I will replace the battery, as it's nowhere near as good as it was, and we'll see.

But apart from that, top phone.

I been buying Samsung XCover phones. Had XCover3 for years (2014) - now on a XCover5 (bought March 2021).

Low cost - low spec phones. First one lasted 7yrs (with a few new batterys) - second is two years old.

Always buy Spigen cases for them.

I killed my X7 in a year. My working environment is heavy going, but I'm not especially brutal. In the end the sound went but it was always clunky in operation, prone to freezing etc, even with nothing really running and had terrible reception on both WiFi and phone signal. Replaced with a Samsung A13, so still low budget, and equipped with a Discover New World case and glass screen protector. I have to say, it's night and day. I used to have to go outside in the cold and rain to receive or make phone calls. Not any more. My wife phones through the net on 4g and that works too, and I can now pick up my neighbours WiFi from one end of the workshop quite reliably. The camera is much better, and the phone case has a slide to protect the lens so hopefully it'll stay that way. The X7 lens got scratched in no time.
So far, I'd have another of these, but not the X7.

But nothing compares to my good old Samsung B1270 Solid, which has sat in a drawer since at least 2018, my phone had died earlier, so I was desperate,

I turned it on, it still had battery, wedged a nano SIM card into it, thought this will never work, and off it went, with all my missed calls and texts for today. Followed by, I'll never find the charger for it, took a standard mini USB lead, and Bob's your uncle.

Yes, it's not a smartphone, but this has fallen into so many wet bilges, and it's still going strong.

Took me a while to figure out why I stopped using it, the last loud speaker died, so I couldn't hear it ringing, I'm on the case....

Had my Armour x7 three years now and it's survived, battery life still good too!

After breaking a few hand me down i phones I still find it a clunky annoying thing to use, and it has a mind of it's own, when it's in a bad mood it's very annoying!

It's most annoying trick is to change the keyboard and spell checker to whatever language it feels like! It's favourite choice lately is some sort of Arabic script

Another really annoying thing is a notification telling me the last thing I did, that blocks the keyboard and won't go away what ever I try. Of course it won't do it now so I can't post a screenshot!

But it is very strong, no doubt about that at all!

The other day I was sitting in my car desperately attempting to get back to English and hide the notification as I trying to send an urgent important message, then I completely lost my rag with it.

I beat it screen down in the gear knob as hard as I could for quite some time, very bad language as ensued, not proud of that but I just wanted it to die!

Which of coarse the stubborn b****tard just would't do, it's still laughing at me now....

Mine was getting slow, kept auto dimming the screen, and other things.

In an attempt to fix the screen, I did a factory reboot, which wiped everything, possibly my sd card too, strongly recommend doing it, back up anything important, my phone works like new again.

And take out your sd card.

I might try that, bit scary as never done a backup/restor on it, being used to Apple where it's one touch to icloud.

So Monday dropped it again, this time destroyed the screen, have just ordered a new one from aliexpress, £12, can't find a replacement battery anywhere though, but for £12 if it does another year I'm happy.

Yeah well, the new screen arrived, but just the touchscreen, not the backlit display, which isn't available.

So I thought, sod it, and ordered a new phone, a new X12 pro, €120 delivered today, very much liké the x7, but the caméra seems better.

£99 new X12 arrived today, still awaiting SIM card, looking at getting a SD card for it, can you fit any size in or is there a maximum size ?

(Micro SD Card, not talking physical size, I'm asking about memory, as SD cards seem to have come down in price alot since I last bought one.)

64 Gigabytes is the answer, took me a while to trawl the Ulefone site for the info.

For further info 64 GB, was €11 with free delivery, class 10 whatever that means, specified by manufacturer.

I swapped over a 128GB card from my X7 to my X16 without issue.
The X7 is now surplus to requirements as my bank forced me to upgrade to a phone with later than Android 11 on it.
Absolute sods.

I've forgotten all my passwords, have given up trying to get my gmail, What's app and banking apps back until SIM card arrives, pees me off every time you get a new phone takes two hours and the rest to get it roughly how you want it.

Have successfully set my alarm for tomorrow morning, and found the Wi-Fi code, a hundred odd quid down the loo, for a glorified internet browsing alarm clock at the moment.
