Argoshield light. How much.

Hi everyone. This my first time on ANY forum, not just welding and I am a bit lost.
I have a question regarding shielding gas. I have just bought a second hand but unused mightymig 130 and I have rented the new BOC argoshield light hobby bottle. After reading on here how good Weldequipe is, I bought a regulator and conversion from him. My question is, roughly, how many Litres per minute should I set the reg at. I am welding 2mm & 3mm mild steel and I am a total learner. Any pointers would be a massive help. Cheers.

Standard is 10LPM for most use. You can probably get away with 8 LPM on the small Clarke torches (disposables can run at 6 LPM.)

Welcome to the forum,If you planning on continuing with your welding and not just going through a phase, Check out the Volkszone gas special offer from BOC, for Argoshield light,
It's a lot cheaper than their normal contract and has enough gas for around 5 hours welding.

Thanks for all the advice. I dont think its a phase, more like a need, I own a Land Rover. Enough said.. As for gas. I paid £18 per year and £16 for refill. Till I get better that should last awhile. Cheers. Terry.

yea well Im in Hillingdon so probably about 2 maybe 3 mile from your Son. Im sorted for a bottle now though. I also posted this whilst I was looking for the volkzone deal.


My argoshield light is nearly out. It's a 10ltr bottle and I was looking at one of these deposit paid no rental charge jobbies...

My bottles lasted me just over 2 yrs, I dont do that much with it.. It's a BOC bottle that was on a demo account at the time, think it was about £30 iirc.

I also have a inactive BOC account, I opened it when I got the 10ltr bottle.


Anyway Ive had a far better result than I could ever have wished for.

I was chatting to a neighbour an he said what gas are you using, I said argoshield, I now realise mine was argoshield light but there close enough to the same for me. Ive got one of those he said and its surplus to requirements now, do you want. Has it got any gas in it, yea think its full it's a 20ltr bottle.

Result Lots more for me....
