Ah really? Do you know if the companies are still affiliated or have SIG taken over as their own company? The wife on the phone down at Gas Direct head office in Nottingham didn’t have a clue when I’d asked about a Scottish rep/number to call.
I have a rep from SIG coming out next week to discuss opening an account with them so will see how they compare to BOC
I think SIG have taken over completely, could be wrong though. For info they are charging me just over £16 a month rental on a 10L Acetylene, 20L oxygen and a 20L pure argon. I cant remember the refill prices off the top of my head though.
What is the name of the rep? Might be the same guy that came to see me.
The pressures are the same as BOC. What's the monthly rent for a BOC bottle?
You mean the Russell gas place? (Also a lawnmower centre bizarrely). I thought they didn’t keep any of the hobbyweld bottles there, you had to go to the Larbert shop.lawn
more centre stirling,open 6 days a week
Had a rep from SIG Industrial Gases round this morning. Turns out they’ve actually been bought out by Air Products as have Gas Direct which is the reason gas direct don’t operate in Scotland anymore.
For a Y-size bottle they’ve quoted £22.50 for gas which is substantially cheaper than elsewhere however the rental is a lot higher at £68.76 per year. Therefore it only works out at a couple quid cheaper than the BOC Y size bottle over the year.
Is there any collection charges or other hidden surcharges with the BOC Y size hobby deal? There’s a BOC agent more local to me than SIG in Glasgow so would be most cost effective going this route unless there’s some charges that I’ve missed
