Have a look down this page at BOC Volkzone offer knightrider says the offer can still be had and if you can get it thats about half the price you have now for about twice the gas(argoshield light) and at least with BOC you know you are getting the right mix. I was hoping for a similar offer for pure Argon from BOC but they must still be thinking about it .

Aren't they all owned by Linde now? Long live the monoplies commission..........That does seem a bit much for an X though, don't think I pay that for a W - excluding the rip off collection charge which must be 10 or 12 quid now. Can you imagine any other retailer getting away with a 'collection charge'? W/A
. I cant justify that price whatsoever. They can charge what they want, no competition against them.

I spoke to "Justin" that organised the DIY gas deal for BOC about pure Argon...
He said at the time the best he could do was to knock 35% off the gas price...

Im with ya, they wanted more for the gas than what i paid for the welder.
Found a nice place elsewhere and got some argon/co2 mix at a good price, im happy with that.

I went with adams gas as its local to me. A one off fully refundable £40 deposit, £28 per bottle of argon/co2, 95/5% mix, and a massive £2 delivery. If i ever need to return the bottle then i get my £40 back. So now ive got a bottle, any refill will just cost me £30 to my door, they bring a new bottle and collect the empty one.

thats brilliant, adams should be all over the country, boc would be out of business. wonder what the annual turnover is for BOC.

Bear in mind that Adams gas and many of the other rent free sources fill to only around half the pressure of the big rental companies. Total cost of gas obviously depends on how much you use, using Adams gas or the like would cost me significantly more than a rental agreement for example but if you barely get through a cylinder a year...

That would be me.
places like adams are good for people like me, im not going to be using the welder much, do a bit on my car and thats it, might find some other uses for it. But for companys who use there welders week in week out then places like BOC would be a better option.How olds that spreedsheet? maybe some prices have changed as it says with adams upfront cost is £105, i paid £70. There was no collection charge, just £2 delivery. Bear in mind i am local, well 53 miles away is local to them. And the refill price has gone up a couple of quid.
I think before hand they where using TNT to deliver the gas but now they got there own drivers as i had a chat with the bloke who dropped the bottle of and he said he works for the company.I dunno, im happy with the service and prices i got.

I went to my local air products supplier (north west gasses, St Helens) to enquire about pure argon for the Tig.
They wanted £55 for the gas (smallest size) and £85 rental payable up front
I already have an account with BOC, was thinking of changing to air products, but think I'll stay for now.
