Argon/C02 - Gas flow rate / flowmeter ?

Hi , just to ask if you can give me the approx gas flow rate i would need to weld 0.9 mm floor plate in a car . I was going to try the small 110 litre bottles to start with as i only need to weld small plates where i have cut the old rust away. Can the flow rate be set approx with the small regulator or must you have a flow meter to set this up. I do have a good regulator and flow meter but this fits a large bottle and as i do not have space for a large bottle i plan to try the small bottle. I have seen cheap flow meter for £9.99 and wonder if they are ment for small bottles and if so are they any good ? The wire i will be using is 0.8mm. i have a new ESAB Caddy C200i


Any help on flow rates for Argon / CO2 and regulator + flowmeter please ?

10LPM is appropriate for most torches.

The small bottles only achieve about 6-8LPM wide open and last about 10 minutes of use.

The small CO2 bottles last longer, about 30-40 min of use.

With no flow gauge in/on the regulator you would have to get one of the pea shooter type (think that's what they are called) that you put over the end of your gun nozzle to measure whats coming out of the end. See weldequip shop at top of page for pics.

To add to Mikes Post, I have a twin flow regulator and still use the pea shooter every time I fire the machine up. Damn handy
