Are there any roofing guys on forum

Hi all , if there is any roofing chaps on here that could give me a rough idea of the cost to fit new timber fascias soffits and clad them with upvc with an allowance for some replacements of the timbers at the ends etc, the property is a bungalow 3 bed , concrete roof tiles, I have had 1 quote and nearly fell over, I have a fair idea of the material cost, it's the labour that frightened me, thanks in advance

Why do you want wood facias and soffits under new upvc?

Are the facias made of plastic strong enough to support the tile edges ? If so then no I would not not need them , it's just in the quote a local chap has given me. As said I need advice, thanks

theres 2 types a cover board which needs a wood support underneath or a proper fascia board

3mm up to 20mm thick

the fronts range from 4" up too 12"

soffits are the dearest

also is your guttering being replaced as well ?

wood fascia board should be fitted but you dont have to do but its advisable as it does stretch

Thanks Gaz ,Ok , the bungalow is L shaped with 3 gables, counting the 5 metre lengths of what looks like 150 x 16 mm fascia and adding 1 length for cuts etc = 75 metres, soffits varying widths 150 up to 300mm approx 50/50 , access is easy, approx 50 m of guttering , 3 downpipes square line prefered, alow for 1/2 day for minor verge cement replacement etc, could I expect a quote that won't make me faint?

I know you've said bungalow, but any conservatories/problems that would need scaffolding?

Gf had her (huge!) 5 bed semi (2-storey) house re-fascia-d for about a grand. Including scaffolding bridging across a 15ft conservatory.

I got quoted £900 to replace guttering + fascias, including retiling bottom row to fix water flow into the guttering - including scaffolding round a three bed semi.

In both the above, scaffolding was around £400 of the cost.
In my case, I bought a scaff tower for £100 and did it myself for about £100 of materials

No conservatory, no scaffold required, 1 quote recieved in excess of 6 grand, google gives retail prices of materials, estimated at 1k given lots of room on that , 5 k labour for a couple of guys for a week ???

4 people 5 days should be done and complete a normal house size is 2/3 days

I replaced the roof tiles, 600 tiles, under felt, couple of large flat roofs with rubber membrane 3x4m and 5x12m, the flat roofs also had upvc facia fitted,

All for about £3500

All done myself though.
