are key clamps weldable?

What are key clamps made of and can they be welded?

Makes a project I have in mind easier if they are

I've welded them however like all galv'd items you have to grind the zinc off first.

Ah I'm not too good with the stick welder yet to weld cast iron .. I'll find another way

They are definitely not cast iron - they are cast steel and i have welded them. As said, just grind the galv off first.
