the piston on my ac1 was falling apart new genuine piston was £75I have experience (limited) on both Petters and Lister engines and found both to be incredibly over engineered compared to todays offerings, I think they were made to considerably out last their sell by date (Guarantee)

nice have you got manual or auto changeoverMy 13kva Lister powered standby set keeps the house and workshop running. Only run for 75 hours since installation in 1987 but every hour greatly appreciated!View attachment 76516
reliability is what you need, you can always build yourself an acoustic enclosure to keep it quiet"nice have you got manual or auto changeover"
Manual. Keep it hooked to a battery maintenance charger and it starts on the key.Not the most civilised lump compared with current fully enclosed "silent" sets but always starts and just sips red diesel. When installed the village was "on the end of a line" and only fed from one direction and when low flying swans hit the lines and tripped the sub station we got frequent interruptions of supply. The power company now seem to have cured that problem but its still nice to be independent!
3 hoursI have a jp3 15kva, a ce set, 6kw ex post office with about 3 hours on from new, a couple of 6/1 startomatics, a ve set (air cooled 8/1), sr3 3 phase, sr2 single phase is day to day machine.
nice to get one with so little use and probably far cheaper then newCame from the telephone exchange at stalbridge outside Shaftesbury iirc.... It was the mains failure plant.
How are you proposing to get the one way clutch and lead screw etc working ?Have the starter rewired to run the oposite way.
Pre-engage starter presumably? How are you proposing to get the one way clutch and lead screw etc working ?
the starter still has a twist gear on it and used in the wrong direction would just be spun out away from the flywheelPre-engage starter presumably?

Depends how good the design is; cheapo ones just have spines and springs.View attachment 76540
