Are hatz diesels really worth this much?

Hatz are nice engines. I have one in my ex-military steam cleaner, and I had a huge wacker plate that had one, and they were definitely a quality job.

hatz enignes, if you look after it it'll do an incredible amount of work before it needs a spanner on it.

even if you abuse them they'll last longer than most other engines do prperly maintaned

Mines a Petters PH2 (heart attack to start) busy converting to electric start.( Its in dumper TLC) the engine run went up to 1990 AFAIK. I don't know if anything superseded them.

I have a marinised ph2 on a forwards/reverse gearbox... Seems a nice engine. I should sell it really.

The only prob so far is getting a starter that runs anti clockwise I've had one off an LDV but wrong rotation.

Have the starter rewired to run the oposite way.

Is it not just a case of reversing the wires to the brushes, making sure that the side that is connected to the chassis is disconnected and insulated, and the other side grounded.

Been an hgv mechanic I've come across customer having starters rewired because it's a lot cheaper than replacing

Sort of... Been Lister-Petter for a while now though.

They ran into finance problems and were bought by some far-east outfit not that long ago; I think they're gone for good now. Plenty of places that do spares though.

They Def. went bust. I live a few miles from Dursley where they were based and it cause a lot of grief locally.
