My 95 year old grandmother has dementia, and against all odds still lives alone, albeit with several visits a day from carers.
The typical elderly 'help' alarms are no use, she doesn't know what to do with them. She needs a big red button (or several) with 'PRESS FOR HELP' written on it which will phone my mother 2 minutes away. After looking around, I can't find anything you can pick up 'off the shelf' without being tied into some monitoring service or monthly charge.
So I thought "I wonder if I can do that with the Arduino I've had lying around for 10 years..."*. Turns out I can (probably).
Bought some ingredients:
This is what I want to do, but it's a different shield.
I'm working through this one now, seems to be the same shield:
Wish me luck.
*I made it say hello and flash some pretty LEDs once, then got bored.
