Is there any advantage of having a 100 amp DC arc welder over using a mig 100 amp? I think I seen somewhere that you can weld thicker metal with a arc than you can with a mig of the same voltage?
The other thing I'd like to find out. Is it possible to modify my Clarke 100 en mig, so the two outputs ( + - ) could be used for DC arc welding? It would be easy to do using a 3 pole switch (Permanent live, disable gas valve, and disable wire feed), to switch between mig and arc operation. Of course if there is no advantage in using DC arc of the mig then it's a pointless modification.
