Arc welding rods

Best way to arc weld these steel rods together.Weld together, or leave gap and hopefully weld runs between them to join. Need to be flush as in making spiderweb for bike tank

Bevel the edge of it, butt them together and weld, then grind flush.

i’d bevel them both. not to a point, just take it to about half thickness so you’ve a cone shape and then stick them together. I’d probably try and clamp them into a bit of angle as that will help them stay straight while you weld them!

If you are joining them with an arc welder you wont need to bevel either one, a quick burst with a 2.5 electrode will penetrate that easily, do it from both sides, then to smooth the joint use a hammer on an anvil or block whilst its still hot rotating it as you tap it, it will flatten the joint and straighten it at the same time.
