Hi all, Coming to you with a little problem I had yesterday looking for a little help, anything would be appreciated.
So I use a little Tec Arc 166i inverter for a bit of stick welding on 3-4MM mild steel, The little thing has been working like a charm for just over a year until yesterday. I was doing a little job in the workshop which required me to move the welder out of the way so as to make room for my mitre saw on the workbench. I carefully unplugged everything and neatly placed it in the corner of the shop for around 2 minutes until I was done with the mitre saw.
I then picked up the welder, plugged it in & went to lay a pass on a fillet weld that was all tacked up ready to go.. I'm running the machine on the exact amps I've been running for a 3.2MM since I can remember but for some reason the rod is feeling like its way too cold and the arc isn't starting properly and when I do finally get something going its flashing in and out something awful.
I'm going to take a look at the insides of the welder tomorrow probably and see whats going on.. before I do I wanted to see if anyone had any clue what it could be so I can keep my eyes peeled whilst I'm taking a peek around?
I'm suspecting either its something to do with a capacitor on the PCB or something really really obvious that I'm going to kick myself after for not thinking of.
Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers.
Heres' the machine I'm talking about
