Old Chinesium uses spark gaps , clean or adjust them , but could be a crappy hf too . You get what you pay...
Apologies for the delayed response, I've been investigating!
So I've ruled out gas flow issues - in fact I was using too much, which was the cause of the frosty look of my weld.
The first weld after a fresh grind still works the best, but I've found I can get the arc going by getting very close on subsequent ones.
However insufficient post flow might be an issue too, I'll try that tomorrow.
