is burnt halfway or so.
Got Machine Mart rods, which I know people say are variable - but they are what the local ag supply stocks.
Does the fact that they are more tractable once half-burnt suggest they are damp and could do with being cooked? I am keeping them in the airing cupboard.
First tries were obv beginners luck - it's harder than it looks to get something which will stand up to being belted with a club hammer!
