that sums it up , they give you lacri lube usually ,, I had some local anaesthetic drops that were great , dropped them in and your eyes stopped hurting and you could sleep , but they also stopped working too , so you had to sleep .

Certainly makes sure you don’t make the same mistake again.

I got an arc flash and ended up in A&E as in so much pain. Had to wear an eye patch for a couple of weeks as well as being off work.

I once forgot to pull my weld shield down...ended up doing a weld with just the grinding shield! Had a panic...but managed to Google the info on the grind shield and turned out it blocked uv.

Google says a lot of standard modern plastic lenses would naturally block UV...so just depends what they're made of I guess. Any way to check the lense brand...then just Google it?

odds on you get away with a single flash anyways , even without glasses or lenses etc ,,, I cant be the only one whos got something lined up , good fit , got in tight and tacked it into place and forgot to nod the mask down at all ,,,,
not very often , but once in a while ,,,,

please tell me we all do it and its not just'' old timers disease ' kicking in early ,,,,

We all do it. The worst I've had is gritty eye feeling which improved the next day. You'll be absolutely fine.

I watch people welding in shorts and T shirts or no shirt but I used to tack with no helmet did it a lot no ark eye but burnt face, I always wear long sleeves. trousers and mask now.
Stupid thing as it can lead to skin cancer, an old boy who was ship yard welder told me liquid paraffin was a thing they used never tried it as never had the burnt eye ball.
I am NOT recommending it

As I said before - only had arc eye in one eye once in all these years - not nice - gritty/painfull feeling - no fun at all.

I cover myself up well for welding - only time I have had a red neck under a helmet - was using a pulse MIG - these seem worse than all other electric welding process for skin burns.

What I suffer from is self releasing slag from stainless rods MMA welding with 312's - the stuff just pings at you.
