Saw this in the local paper and thought it might be of interest to any of our younger members who might be thinking about welding as a career.
Details here:
http://www.twi.co.uk/careers/jobList?Action=DetailView&id=2961
Summary: 4-year apprenticeship, including day-release, leading towards Technician position. Age 16-24. Minimum 4 GCSEs (C or above) in English, Maths, a Science. Computer skills a benefit. Starts August 2007.
If you don't already know, the Welding Institute is the world's top research and training organisation for materials joining technology. Located in Cambridge, UK.
Note: I have no affiliation with TWI. Simply passing on news of a wonderful opportunity. How many companies these days offer 4-year apprenticeships? Not many, sadly.
