Applying heat using a TIG set?

Hi all

I need to remove the drop link arm on my landy but even with hydrailc pullers it will not budge, i want to apply heat but all i have is a TIG set. If i up the AMPs will it heat up the arm?

Any thoughts

You don't need to up the amps too much, use an open arc to create a "flame", be careful not to melt the arm though, keep the arc moving.
And it wont do the tungsten much good either. but I've done it on occasion to get out of trouble.

drop arm removal

Hi silly question but have you completely removed the bolt?, if so the apply as much pressure as you dare with th the pullers and the with two hammer strike it simultaneously on each side ,this should shock it free,some freeing oil in the bolt hole should help,I am assumming this the drop arm at the bottom of the steering relay, the bolt goes thru a groove in the relay shaft, this is how I did mine,HTH,ps where in Kent are you?

For seized bolts I spray some penetrating oil and then "blow" it into the gap with lighter butane. The lighter butane cools the bolt and thus increases the gap.
