I know a guy who's van got broken into overnight. They tool various boxes and bits and pieces.

One of which was the Samsung equivalent of the apple airtag.

So he and a couple of large lads went round to the house where it was and politely asked for his stuff back. Which he did get.

I have thought about trialing one in fuel or other places to see how long it would last with abuse.

Possibly quite a while if you could put it in a small water tight container first, then in to the fuel container?

Funny this thread is active.

Saw a customer today and he’s bought the Stihl version of these.

Does pretty much the same but you can set geo fences and things. It also senses vibration so logs runtime of the kit.

Just putting it out there as I’ve not seen them before.

saw a video on air tags a while back

there is one problem using them for tracking stuff - as some kind of anti-stalking system if you keep pinging the same air tag and it's not yours you get a warning about it and can ping it so it beeps (to help you find it)

the guy making the video was using them for tracking his stuff so he was taking them apart and cutting the speaker wires

I bought two Vodafone Curves for our dogs, £20 each iirc and £2 a month subscription.

No need to have any phones nearby, they are self sufficient (GPS and Mobile Data).
