It's finally here and in place. It's a damn sight bigger and heavier than the UK source machine. Took two forklifts to unload the create.

Order placed July 10th 2020. Delivered March 3rd 2021.

Got gouged for an extra £1400 in shipping charges by my shipping agent once it was in the UK. Funnily I had refused free shipping from the Chinese supplier to avoid "Port sharks"!

With the increase in the Pound and the decrease in Duty even with the increased shipping cost the overall cost remained very close to the original estimates. ~£19K ex VAT for the imported unit and ~£29K ex VAT for the UK sourced machine.

Container prices have gone up about 400% in the last few months and airfreight is no better. So much for dealing with the rest of the World.
Logistics is a total nightmare at the moment. Working flat out for no extra reward.

But it's nothing political about it Matt. People on both sides wanted to leave and stay. I was commenting about it was supposed to be better but I have yet to find anyone say they are finding it better.
It's even put the price up of a transaction you started back in July.

More to the point of your thread is it up and running yet and what will you be using it for?

The green and dark grey unit is the UK sourced Laser cutter, the white unit is the Chinese sourced unit.
Both are 1300x900 1kw cutters.
