Anyone used polymers in a project?

Thermoset Polymers and their heat resistance.

I have just been reading up on the heat resistent (non metallic) materials.

I found it quite interesting.

Polymers are plastics.

I think you are confusing thermoset and thermoplastic polymers:

The primary physical difference is that thermoplastic polymers can be remelted back into a liquid, whereas thermoset polymers always remain in a permanent solid state.

Most Thermoset plastics have a temperature limit after which they start to break down.
Epoxy is a good example, most start to weaken & degrade over 150 degrees C.
Loctite also loses strength if a part is heated, good way to release loctited fasteners, stick a soldering iron on them.

You can injection mould thermosets, get that round your head

Anyway thermosets are a pain but if needs must you have to use them. BTW while thermosets will not re-melt MANY produce some pretty nasty gasses when actually burnt/burning.
