has anybody on the forum had a go of or own a Butters / Javac MiniMig 155 Mig Welder? there on migtig arc. http://www.migtigarc.co.uk/MIG_Weld...ig_155_Mig/butters_javac_minimig_155_mig.html

just wondering what they weld like really as it does seem a bit to good to be true for that price.

maybe worth a punt tho. if not porta mig here i come

It's a Chinese copy of the Lincoln SP170 which is a cracker. The Lincoln lists at £717+Vat & the best, discounted price is touching £600 including Vat.

MTA sell portamigs too

MTA only sell a few out of the range of portamigs, think they sell the automotive ones the 181, the 211 and the industrial 311, they miss out the 251, 261,281,361, and all the versions with seperate wire feed units, weldequip sells the full range i believe.

Interesting that the butters/javac is listed as 220v input, but as a rule we tend to get about 235volts. The portamig 181 is a far more capable unit with lowest amperage setting of 20amps got for thing stuff and a more capable 185amps at top end. The wire feed unit on the portamig is a more robust professional type unit which makes a whole world of difference offering a more constant wire feed feed than smaller units, but you pays you money and makes your choice. (i think weldequip can shave a few quid of MTA's price on the portamig)

Atleast if you bought from Welequip, you've got the luxuary of picking his brains at stupid o'clock on the forum too

and i will be putting my order in with weldequip for my portamig 181 and eyetech 2 in the next week or so.
