anyone used gibbs ?

saw a link on a hotrod forum for gibbs penetrating oil

claims to be one of the better penetrating oils and can also be used to coat bare metal , says that its dry after use and wont leave finger prints etc , can also be painted over

its avail in the uk (rather exp) just wondered if anyone has used it at all

Yep i use it, much better than the other offerings, Saying that i wouldn't use it on bare steel if your painting later, some seem to get away with it but i have had one bad experience so wouldn't do it again.

I have a bit left in the bottom of a can, good stuff.
Cant say i haver ever tried painting over it though!
Good for polishing.

Some people use it to protect bare metal bodies, It has to be cleaned off before any paint is applied, I don't know how they get it out of the seams though

I use it for protecting any bare steel that sits outside or in sheds for any period, including wheels and bearings, padlocks and steel shelving. It repels water brilliantly and seems to last ages. Not tried painting over it even though the tin says you can.
I bought a box-full through the forum a while back but the link doesn't seem to work any more so have no idea where to get it now..can you post the link Steveo?

Yup - have it on both macs and the iphone. Makes editing pdf files easy too. I should be on commission

so this gibbs ...if i sprayed my car engine bay would it last well in daily use to protect the alloy bits from festering etc?

i dont really understand what it is , sounds like a oily wd40 stuff but how does it dry and not fingerprint etc?

If you mean to protect ally bits in winter i just put a thin coat of vaseline on the ally.
