Anyone swapped pillar drill belt to cogged V belt?

Hi all, think my 'new, old stock' pillar drill may benefit from some new belts (the belts sat for years in one position), considering AX cogged belts vs standard smooth A belts, but reading conflicting views on it.
Is it worth it? Do they reduce vibration? Do they increase noise at high rpm ?

I've never had a problem with a regular a-section belt. Cheap, too.

Quite honestly, you don't need to bother.
Also, don't have them too tight. They work
extremely well as a safety "clutch" when the
bit grabs.

just used standard belts on my churchill pillar drill never had one slip yet ,the motor has stalled 1st on a big heavy cut grit your teeth stuff

The cogged XPA are better when theres a small diameter pulley, it will grip better, otherwise theres not much between the two.

Exactly this I have always adjusted belts to allow for a bit of slippage, its a drill bit saver.
