This oddball popped up near me for sale.
I don't know much at all about workshop kit, but this doesn't look like any drill press I've ever seen.
Anyone?

old school, denbigh used to make them just like that, Before the advent of box castings. To save on weight and steel.

if you go back to the line shaft way you can do alot with a line shaft

one in use with lineshaft

water mill powered line shaft the line shaft has speed of 900rpms

A Denbigh being used as a pot stand we came across while out walking in Devon. Seems a shame but at least they didn’t turn it into a standard lamp ;-)

It's up for sale on FB Marketplace for £200. No idea if it's worth that, but looks like a substantial bit of kit.

I've no room for the beast, but I certainly like the thing.

I suspect they thought it was heavy enough that it didn't need to be bolted down!

That's a Denbigh Column Drill No.1 (http://www.lathes.co.uk/denbigh-drills/) by the looks of it. It would probably go nicely alongside my Denbigh!
