As kids we used to get a day ticket to Swindon to watch the trains, one day a week, I think it was a Thursday, a bod would come from the 'works & collect all the kids on the platform & give them a tour of the factory. Evening Star was in there at the time & we were told it was the last one. About a year or so ago, I went up to the railway museum in part of the old works, to be told "you've come on the right day, we've got a lot of the old workers in explaining things" I had a lovely morning talking to these guys, it will be knowledge lost in not many years. If your in Swindon the railway museum is well worth a visit as its set up like part of the old works.BR 9F Evening Star was completed in 1960. The engineers must have been at the top of their game then. The 9Fs had real power.
I know a small team of engineers in Liverpool who still re wind motors, they get them sent from all over the place as many places no longer do themthat just would not happen in the UK
looking good keep up the good work

We had some stupid quotes in the past before we used this place, as you say most people quote stupid prices as they don't want to do it.that's what i meant not many places left in the UK
if any want to do them or just say can't be done or just quote a ridiculous figure to get rid of you

We use Sulzer for out motor repairs/rewinds, I suspect we pay a decent amount for the contract though, they will collect within an hour anytime of the day or night.
What's the KVA rating of this generator or did I miss it?
