anyone run one of these saws?

Looking for a good single phase bandsaw coolant fed with variable speeds. Anyone run a SIP 0159 12" (the one on wheels with the coolant feed etc). Other suggestions? looking for clean cuts on thin box and trueness on bigger mitres like 80x80 etc

Not sure if thats the one Matt has or the same as the one I borrowed a while back but I found it brilliant.

I cant find any reference to that number in google though..

Well I am getting on a bit.

I would say 4 wheels is not a good idea as when you have the saw upright and cutting you will not get any pressure on the cut.

Mine has two wheels and two feet at the front with a handle on the frame to lift when moving around these are also height adjustable for levelling.

How thin is thinwall you have to set the downfeed carefully to avoid snatching when cutting vertical thin stuff but this does slow you down when cutting horizontal thin stuff IE tubing.


Never had a problem with cut quality

Ive got a sip 12 inch bandsaw which ive had for about fifteen years, been a good bit of kit. Ive cut 25mm box by 2mm wall no problem, and everything else up to 200 mm ipe. its done loads of work, cuts very square and true. The wheels on mine only allow it to go forward or backwards so changed the front ones to swivel wheels to allow saw to be turned to keep stock straight when cutting angles. Now needs bearings in the wheels the blade goes around, and a capacitor went on the motor, don't know what it did though as I by passed it and its still running a year later. would definatley have another.

As UKRacer says I do have one of these but it's still in bits getting rebuilt (lathe purchase got in the way).
I had a 6x4 before which was always a good saw but the 12x7 is a massive step up in terms of capacity and build quality.

I have a Rong Fu RF-812N which I believe has been imported without a "makers" name badge, just a model number.
For thin wall box or tube I use an 18tpi bi-metal blade.
I can't fault it.

As we all know these things are all made in the same factory then sprayed and badged as the customer requires.
Rong Fu will sell you a 20' container full, 40 according to their website. Time for a group buy?

sound like a meal of a job Rong fu Had a look at one today at a suppliers (as normal with these things none of them even know how to turn one on let alone tell you much but the cost and the fact they have sold enough to bother keeping a bare minimum of stock, seem fairly well put together with a 12mnth warranty and a dealer I can shout at face to face Think I will be going for one in the next few days, its a heavy thing that's for sure. With a bit of Divvy it came out at £944 + vat which is a good bit better than the equivalent with a German badge (though likely or not its built by the same people or of parts imported from China and build by Poles an Azerbywatsit labourers).

I mean can you not even clear the little stub ends off at the end of the day

Same principle as with a car. When the ash tray is full, time to get a new one.
