We've left it on the landing, all windows upstairs and downstairs are now clear on a morning and house feels noticeably warmer / drier.
It's cycling on and off now. Not running much during the day but kicks on morning and night when everyone is in the house.
Wife has put clothes airer behind it now so it's on double duty as a clothes drier..
one thing to keep an eye on, after a while the fine house dust gets through the the cleanable filter, and can clog the hole in the drip tray under the coil where the ice gathers. This normally makes a mess. once in a while a blow down with an airline solves it.

had mine on 16 hrs a week on night time "cheap" elec , hasnt noticed on the bill at all . i log units used per week and no change
so not alot at all , mine is 300watts so 3 hrs for 13p , 3-4hrs should dry some light clothes , not bath towels etc

Likewise ....the cost is minimal in winter. Any heat from motor goes to warm the house as well as the recovered heat from water vapour.
Our's is presently sat at 58% RH ....it is a very dry house ...that is.... until showers or spaghetti boiling is in progress. Still don't understand why the water HAS to be boiling?
It's a Vanhaus compressor unit (other is adsorption)...downside is the tank, it's not the easiest to empty and although compressor is quiet the fan on high isn't.
