I don't know what that means? As above it’s just a generic check engine light. My old cavalier had it covered by a parking ticket to stop it annoying me for about 3 years (back in 90’s when they didn’t care about them on mot, I think they fail if it’s on nowadays)
It is a 2006 Corolla. Can I buy a code reader for this car?It means something went wrong with an engine sensor. As above, you'll need a code reader to plug into the diagnostic socket to find out more information. Maybe your car has a way of displaying that information, but it's more likely to need a code reader. Some are cheap - for example for VAG cars you can get a cable for about £8 and a shareware software package for free that will read pretty much all codes. There are generic OBD code readers too.
Yes, but I will respectfully suggest that if you genuinely did not know what that light was then your ability to interrogate the ecm via the obd port will be limited.I don't mind buying one.

You were more subtle then me, I stuck a bit of black electrical tape over mine, certainly wouldn’t get away with it nowAs above it’s just a generic check engine light. I may have been known to wire such offending lamps to the oil light, back in the dayI've taken the bulb out before, for my sins
Or as my daughter referred to it in her Corsa, the helicopter lightCheck engine light
Unlikely to be a service light, every one I’ve seen is just a general indication of “an engine problem”.It might just be a service remider light. The original post didn't mention the make or model of vehicle.
Does it not get a mention in the owners manual? The yellow light at the bottom between the two clocks is the issue. Anyone recognise what the symbol is?View attachment 394477
