Anyone near Northants/Midlands who could make an exhaust manifold?

Hi guys,

In the middle of rebuilding a race car for this season and been let down by a fabricator that was going to do me a stainless manifold, 4 branch down into a 4 - 1 collector, nothing too complicated. I'm struggling for time and my TIG skills aren't there yet to be able to make it myself, is there someone on here that would like a cash job?

Someone I know had a custom stainless steel exhaust done at MIJ Exhaust in Walsall last summer and was very pleased with it. Not sure if they do manifolds.

If you have the bends and some TIG skills it may be worth tacking it together and then getting someone to weld it all up, you will need to concider distortion, do you have a spare head to bolt it to?

Simpsons are quite reasonable but they can’t do it for a couple of months, too late unfortunately.

I‘ve got a nice 10mm head flange just need to order bends, any suggestions of suppliers? Don’t need sch10 as it’s not a turbo.

i have made my own with dairy bends.. wrong stainless in theory but stands up to my use

Zetec ST170 and a clubmans race car, space frame etc. Its not a difficult exhaust to make, I’m just running out of time.
Dairy bends would be too heavy really, want it to be fairly lightweight ideally.
I should have the engine back in the chassis my the end of the day so will post a photo.

Just looked on the site i got fetch them from... they call them hygenic fittings.... however, i always ask for dairy and they know what i mean.....
They have done at least 15000 miles in my kit car without cracking
Proper exhaust bends are 308??? These are 316

Rather than buy bends I mock up using copper tube and throw them at place`s like Cheesemans who give me back each pipe as per the mockup. Just leaves the flange and the collector to weld up and will give you a chance to get equal length.

Gives you an idea what I’m working with. The collector could be moved rearwards a bit.

Yep, this is entirely dairy bends from used pipe that was chopped out for refit, as said, 1.6mm wall and 316. And cheap
