Thanks for the posts & pictures of the guide set up .
I have a cheap Aldi die case alu /zinc jig for a 4 inch angle grinder meant to be used as a chop saw for up to 1" thickness bars but it wobbles all over left to right as there is a fair bit of play in the joints . It now sits unused feeling very lonely & un-loved in a hidden away storage box .
I can see that making up a jig like yours to bolt down on to my 10 mm steel bench top and having a simple " long bolt detachable vice could be a worth while project to design , construct & use .
As it could be two separate bolted down items and therefore quite light compared to a big purpose commercially built chop saw that has a floppy disc effect when put to the metal.
Maybe as I embark on a proposed project that will require me to do a hundred or more cuts in 40 mm square tube I can up scale one for my nine inch angle grinder so long as I can keep it running true to make the cuts .
My Forget Me Not project sketch book is about to get a few sketches done on this .
Things may take a while …
I've just spent the last seven days in hospital because of being like a rag doll 5Nov .
Instead of a stroke , blood clot or heart attack it seems to have been caused by an overdose of meds due to me intentionally losing 18 pounds of fat in 15 months . My blood pressure kept dropping and making me go asleep . It was only yesterday that the problem was associated with the medication I've been taking for six years . Got a four week stop/ ban on driving & operating any machinery to see it the new medicine regime is successful.
