Been going through the forks on my old BSA and found the insides of the sliders badly scored and worn. New sliders for this aren’t available and any old ones will probably be just as bad.
im thinking of having a go at removing the ends/lugs and replacing the tube section. Seems like with some careful set up I could line bore some heavy seamless tube on my lathe and refit the ends. I’m thinking of going with an oversize OD so I can weld the tube to a fixture for holding on the lathe then finish turn the OD once the part is assembled/welded etc. It looks like the top lug is tack welded and brazed on and the bottom is welded. I’m thinking of picking up another junk slider to play with to check feasibility. Anyway has anyone done this or have any suggestions/better ideas etc?
