Anyone know of a decent haulier?

Lordy, where do I start:

Ratchet straps round rope hooks, (and that will get you a tug from the DVSA boys who will be happy to class it as insecure load and relieve you of a couple of hundred notes. Rope hooks are for ropes, not straps.), no outrigger spreader pads, and the greatest crime in my book - needlessly over-stressing the crane by having the main boom practically vertical then pushing the extensions out to get the desired reach.

Lost count of the Hiab operators I‘ve seen struggling to pick something up because the load is beyond the crane’s capacity. Flatten the booms out, suck the head back in, and the lifting radius is reduced. It’s simple physics but a lot of people just don’t get it.

It really is tiresome being as perfect as I like to think I am .

To be fair it’s just the dead end of the straps pooped round and back, it would have to be an especially bad tempered ministry Womble to have you for that

Can't comment on the straps, but I'll cover everything else:

1)Outrigger spreader pads were used - I helped lift them off and on the truck (you can't even see the outrigger legs in the picture so not sure how you came to the conclusion no spreader pads were used!)
2) the boom had to be in that position to allow him to swing the load out and over the top of the container to the right - the yard is quite tight! No struggle lifting that load today.

There’s no spreader pad under the front offside outrigger, and while it probably had very little weight on it, if the shtf, the HSE boys would quite happily point that out as bad practice. Regarding the boom angle, my point was that by lifting it thus, the crane was under a lot more stress than it needed to have been. The engineer in me always thinks about what the implications are for machinery that I use.

I’m not perfect, but I try and do my job to the highest possible standards, and I tire of this industry being pulled down by people who can’t be bothered. Not saying “your” driver is one of them, but as someone who purports to operate to very high standards, I feel duty bound to point this kind of stuff out. The drawback of that is that when you stick your metaphorical head above the trench, people are damn sure to shoot at you! Our company in general, and me in particular, have a reputation for being top-notch where Hiab work is concerned, and we’re all very aware that such a reputation is hard to achieve, but very easy to lose...

Just the transport is cheap and easy, for a designated crane truck its not going to be a return load job so you are paying both ways which will put the drivers hours into two days. May be cheaper to get a quote for just the transport and arrange for the thing to be loaded/unloaded each end.
