Saved it to bookmarks. I didn't even know that such spindles existed. What are the dimensions of this head?Most of the chinese ones seem to have the collet chuck as a seperate piece that is only held on by a single grub screw, I dont like that.
Yes VDI live driven tool. Occasionally they pop up on ebay, I paid £32 or something silly.
Ofcourse you could easily make one from a straight shank collet holder and a block of steel. What makes the VDI ones good is they will have will have had very good bearings when new.

Or a £50 tapping head. No idea how that works, special collets needed I guess. I dont like powered tapping !
