Anyone know anything about ultrasonic cleaners?

This Ultrawave IND3232 cleaner I just acquired needs a bit of TLC. It does generate a signal and fire the 16 piezo crystal transducers in 2 circuits, however 1 of them the ceramics is cracked and the transducer itself was very hot. The tank has a split along the weld which I have just sorted with the Tig (to a fashion). Can I remove the damaged piezo crystal transducer and link it out as they are series connected or will this cause problems if they are a tuned circuit and the subsequent loss of one device?

I wonder if the split was a result of the transducers partially parting company with the base? The bonding may have started to fail and because it's on the bottom and there is no damping from any fluid like there is inside the tank, thus setting up a damaging vibration.If the 8 were in series it might be ok to remove one but if it's 4 in series then removing one which is 25% may cause a problem to the driver circuit.

Nice one. @Alan Reynolds are you aware what I can use to reattach the remaining 8 units that have become detached? I gave gorilla glue here and somewhere I have some araldite rapid.

They look parallel connected to me. I'm no expert but I don't think that it will matter.

Of course the transducers are parallel connected. What I was thinking wasn’t what I put across!
Bit of a brain fart. I was trying to point out the feeds were looped through.

It was Allendale Ultrasonic Cleaners that recommended I use JB Weld to attach a new transducer.

Nice one. @Alan Reynolds are you aware what I can use to reattach the remaining 8 units that have become detached? I gave gorilla glue here and somewhere I have some araldite rapid.

JB weld thoroughly mixed in a spreading motion to eliminate any air bubbles. Clean the surfaces with a course grit abrasive and then with acetone. Put a good amount of jub Weld on the tranducer and press and twist. don't worry about removing the over squeeze, just let it set. No problem removing one when they're in parallel, just takes some load off the driver.

I assume it’s no problem leaving the old adhesive on the transducers and reapplying on top? The stuff they’ve used is really hard. Had to put the base of the damaged one in the lathe and turn it off the face!
To do that to all the floating transducers will take many hours!

Rough it up if you really can't get it off. .Can you use an angle grinder to get some of it off? Industrial adhesives are far better than the general public gave access to. About the best you can get "off the shelf" is Devcon Titabiun Putty. That sticks like the proverbial.

Used to vacuum braze the bases on the ones we used to make and use. You should then torque up the whole thing so the peizo do-dar gives out a certain voltage from what I dimly remember. Matched to all the rest I guess.

Our tanks were TIGged inside and out.
