Anyone here weld sparkplug thread repairs?

Time Serts should be a permanent repair, not like a helicoil it is a solid insert that is tapped then expanded into the hole

Used to hang out at an old timey auto machine shop. Guy came in with an old boat motor head. Handed Us a messed up piece of stainless wire and said that His spark plug would no longer fit in the head. We figured out it was Helicoil wire. Someone neglected to break the tang off the insert. Motor stalled out on a river a couple of miles from the real world. The Guy thought the tang was causing the no start, (in spite of the motor running several miles to get Him there) He pulled the wire out, plug no longer fit, THEN He finds out He did not have a paddle onboard. He and passenger had to hand paddle it back from the great outdoors.
