May have bitten off a bit more than I can chew with this one. I've redone the alcove in our front room where an old door way used to be and it now needs plastering. Theres a real mixture of surfaces to be plastered and I think this might cause issues with drying/cracking etc. I'm keen to have a go myself and not too concerned about achieving a great finish as the plaster in the rest of the room is really rough.
I believe I need to put scrim tape on the plasterboard joints but I'm unsure if I should also use that on the corners. I've got beading to put on. The question I can't find an answer to is how to prepare the old walls that are part old painted plaster that I've scratched up and part fresh render. Should this have pva applied and if so what mix and when? I have thistle multi finish plaster and some undercoat plaster for the wooden lintel where the plaster needs to be much thicker.
All advice appreciated except "get a pro to do it" that won't happen until I've messed it up first!
Thanks,
Pete
